Biography

Born into a family of talented singers, In 2001, he gained admission into the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education Ijanikin Lagos, Nigeria and subsequently graduated in 2004 with a certificate in music education (Majoring on Voice). He also obtained certificates from the prestigious Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) School of music in singing Grade 5 (2003) and Theory of music Grade 4-merit (2004) and Grade 6 (2005). He started taking vocal lesson in 2002 from a singer/vocal teacher Dele Nelson-Cole. In September 2012, He also was privileged to two master classes with Yossi Guerdjikov on Baroque music and Prof. Dragmor Nenov on drama and Interpretation in Bulgaria. He also has a diploma of participation at the Euterpe of Rose Karlovo International opera singing competition 2012.

He made his debut as a soloist in 1999 as a Mezzo-soprano/Alto in Handel’s Judas Maccabeus.  He performed in several concerts with the choir notable amongst them is The Creation by Joseph Haydn in 2000. He also sang with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) festival choir and the main choir between 2001- 2009 performing the following work; Messiah and Ode to St. Cecilia’s Day (Handel), Creation (Haydn), Marriage of Figaro, Requiem and Coronation Mass (Mozart), 9th Choral Symphony (Beethoven), Gloria (Vivaldi), Choral Symphony (Mendelssohn), Mass in B Minor (Bach) and some Nigerian Choral works. He has been invited to perform as a soloist in several performances tops amongst which are a command versatile singing performance at the burial service of late media icon Yinka Craig and Between 2008 and 2012, has been regular performer at the Promoting Classical Music in Nigeria Concert Tour performing with Norwegian International vastly travelled Pianist - Geir Henning Braaten 

He performed with the Schola Cantorum in Hudson for their 2015/2016 choral season singing performing as an Alto soloist in Handel’s Messiah and a modern composition. He sang the role Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in the Summer Vocal Arts Program at the Brooklyn Music School in August 2016. He was a Finalist at the Oratorio category of the Lyra International Vocal Competition in New York in 2016. In January 2017, he sang some roles from Opera scenes by Handel, Mozart and Offenbach in the Brooklyn Music School’s Winter Program Scherzo. He performed in Cavalli’s Ercole Amante at the Baroque Opera Workshop Quueens in June 2017 and Baroque Music Soloist Program at the Amherst Baroque Music Festival performing in Cavalli’s Erismena in July 2017. He played the role of “Sylphie” in the production of Gluck’s Echo et Narcisse by the Brooklyn Music School in Summer Vocal Arts Program for Emerging Opera Singers in August 2017.



Andrew also runs an organization in Nigeria called The Philharmonics Company, an outfit aimed at promoting classical music in Nigeria.
